Today ads enter email inboxes and interrupt us on websites we visit. No one is free of all unwanted Ads many containing Adware. Good Spam filters should catch them. Adware emails come to harvest personal information or download unwanted programs to computers. Ads containing Adware are an easy way to attack computers, committing crimes like scamming and cramming or stealing identities.

Spyware comes in many varieties and Adware is the most vicious. When surfing the Internet for information or out of curiosity, Adware is nearby because legitimate webpages can include Ads with Adware. If we accidentally slide our mouse pointer over a small ad on the webpage, a pop-up ad opens asking for our email address, tempting us with an enticing offer. Those who play games on the Internet run into Adware often and the rule is do not open these ads. Curiosity killed a cat and curiosity can kill your computer. If you want something, search for the information but avoid opening uninvited ads.

A full security protection program is the best defense against Adware because it disrupts the entry of Adware into a computer. A strong Antivirus program is essential for all computers. If you do not have such a program, stop now and download one of the free offers from the net. A pop-up blocker or ad blocker and a Spam blocker for email are essential. Some of these are free to download, tread lightly pick a reputable company.

Another piece of software, which helps us gain control over Adware is the WOT Guide by Panda. The WOT Guide contains ratings for thousands of websites. If you click a website link rated dangerous by WOT, the website is often an Adware, information harvesting website or downloads harmful programs without your knowledge. A Red circle is a warning for a bad website, while a Blue circle signifies an unrated website and Green circle signifies a safe site.

A good way to fight Adware using Outlook or Outlook Express is, disconnect the preview pane and click the work offline button. Read offline so Adware email is unable to contact a server, harvest your information or download a dangerous program onto your computer. Read all email offline.

Frequently check for new downloaded programs on your desktop and Add/Remove list. In your computer panel, open the add/remove list and carefully check for new added programs. If a program did not knowingly download is in the list you, click the add/remove button and remove the program. Run a program like Adware or Spybot search. Go back to the add/remove list and make certain the unwanted program is gone.
