You can easily use fragrance and perfume to evoke a mood. In most cases, the mood you will want to evoke is romance. The ancient Egyptians knew all about how to use the powers of perfume to evoke romance and which scents were most pleasing. The secrets have been passed down through the ages and even today, people still use perfume and fragrance as a romantic enticement.

We use all five senses when evoking romance. Sight is important as it has to do with the way you look. The color of your hair, your dress and body language all contribute to the sense of sight when evoking romance. When you want to look romantic, you will put on clothes that show you to your best advantage, wear your hair in a flattering manner and use make up to accent your best facial features. The sense of touch is important and most women spend a lot of money making sure their skin feels soft to the touch by using lotions. We use a special tone with someone with whom we are interested in romantically and this evokes the sense of hearing. We use mouthwash, gum and mints so that we kiss someone, they enjoy the kiss, evoking the sense of taste. We also use perfume and fragrance in the same way to arouse the sense of smell.

Perfumes are made from chemicals designed to smell like essential oils that have been used for thousands of years as mood enhancers. In addition to using such oils to evoke romance, as some are known to be aphrodisiacs, oils were also used to make people feel happy or tranquil. There are many moods that can be evoked from fragrance.

To evoke a romantic mood using perfume, you will want to make sure that you wear a special scent that will make the person think of you whenever he smells the scent. You will also want to make sure that it is a fragrance that suits you and your mood. Everyone has different opinions as to what type of fragrance they like. Some women enjoy florals, while others like spicy fragrance or those with a woodsy tone. Still others like the sweet and soft fragrance given off by Oriental notes in a perfume. Whatever your special fragrance, make sure that you wear it well and it will become your signature scent.

If you are having someone over, one way to use fragrance and perfume to evoke a mood, besides applying it on yourself, is to put a dab of the perfume on the light bulb in your home. The light bulb will act as an infuser and heat the fragrance so that it goes into the air. You do not need to use too much, just a dab of perfume on the light bulb and that will add to the atmosphere of the room.

In addition to using perfume to create a romantic mood, you can also use fragrance in many ways to create a tranquil mood. This can be done with candles or fragrances that are made for the air, have a more woodsy tone, and give off a more delicate, soothing scent.

When wearing perfume or fragrance to the office, you will want to be sure that you use a light fragrance that is not overpowering. During the day, it is often desirable to wear a fragrance with a light floral note or citrus base note. This is delicate and will evoke a pleasant mood as the scent is just nice and not overbearing.

No matter what type of mood you wish to evoke, you should make sure that you incorporate as many of the senses as you can. Using fragrance and perfume to evoke a mood, particularly a romantic mood, is not new. It is a timeless art and when used correctly and sparingly, will be something that is remembered.
