If you have woken up in the morning and you notice that there is a big spot at the end of your nose, the initial instinct is that you will want to squeeze it with the intention of releasing the pus within it. Your aim is to make the spot go away it to not look as ugly. It is even worse when a spot appears on the face and you have an important event that you need to attend. But if you take the time to deal with spots in the correct manner you will be able to see your spots disappear in no time at all.

You need to recall that the best time to treat a spot is when the pus is visible and the spot is at bursting point. It is at this stage that the spot is at its largest state. Make sure that your hands are clean and there is no dirt under the fingernails. It might even be an idea to wear some surgical gloves or to have a clean tissue to hand, and the reason for this is to ensure that there is no possibility of any infection from spreading from area to area.

Take a need and make sure it is sterile and you are best doing this by putting it in some boiling hot water and this will help to kill off any bacteria that is on the needle, and no bacteria is being spread.

Then gently take the needle in gently pierce the spot. The pus will then start to ooze itself out, and you should squeeze very gently until you notice blood appearing. At this stage you need to stop, and within a day or so, the inflammation should have reduced, but it can take a few more days before everything is back to normal.

If you are still noticing that you have some swelling on the skin then you should apply a cold press to that area of the skin. Whenever you have squeezed a spot, you need to apply an appropriate spot treatment in order to help kill off any further infection that may still exist, and to also help to reduce the redness and inflammation.

But you need to remember that squeezing spots is nothing something that should be exercised with frequency and there are only certain stages at which a spot should be squeezed. There are times when you might develop a spot, and it might not actually have a head, or no pus may be visible. In these cases, you just have inflammation on the skin and this is a prime example of when to not squeeze a spot.

In instances like this all you can do is keep the skin clean and to treat it as you would any other spot. Squeezing could be dangerous as it could cause the inflammation to become more worse than it already is.

Another reason that squeezing should be avoided is that if you exert too much force to the skin, once the spot has gone it could be that you are left with a permanent scar on the surface of the skin and there are no creams that are able to remove facial scars.
