It would be terrible if we ever had to revert back to the days when we had no running water in our homes. We take it for granted now and depend on it everyday to accomplish the many chores that come with running a household. Can you imagine having to trot outside to a well or a nearby stream to bring in bucket after bucket of water? It might be hard to find the time to fit that necessity into our busy day.

We have to have water in the home to do a lot of things like bathing, cooking, washing dishes, doing laundry, and the toilet flushing alone is done numerous times each day for an average sized family. A family of four can take four baths or showers, wash one dishwasher full of dishes, do two loads of laundry, and add toilet flushing, cooking, and cleaning to that and you have used no telling how many gallons of water in twenty four hours.

If you add lawn watering, car washing, garden watering, or filling a swimming pool and the amount of water used for the month can be huge. One problem that some homes face is when there is water usage going on in the house in several places at one time and having enough water pressure. If you try to wash laundry and run the dishwasher at the same time and then someone decides to shower also, the water pressure can slow down to a trickle. This can cause appliances to take longer to complete their job because they usually have to fulfill certain water levels to finish a cycle. This means the appliances will use more energy because they are running longer.

It can be really annoying to try and flush a toilet with just one flush when the water pressure is not a great as it should be. The problem might be only temporary if others are using water in the home at the same time and it can be difficult to wait to use the toilet until the water usage in the house is lessened. There are some easy ways to fix this problem.

You can try running only one water using appliance at a time. By doing this it is less likely to interfere with flushing the toilet that much. You should also check the toilet fill valve and make sure it is open completely. This will help some. If pressure is an issue all over the house all the time, than you need to increase the pressure for the entire home. The water pressure regulator can normally be found underneath the hose connection at the front of the home. If you can not locate yours or find it is broken, you can get a plumber to come out and locate it, repair it, and increase the water flow.
