Morocco is a popular holiday destination with holiday makers looking for a mixture east meets west culture. It is a country full of interesting things to do and places to visit. Its year round warm climate has made it a very popular holiday destination with holiday makers looking for a relaxing sun filled holiday. There are some great holiday villas and self catering apartments that can be rented as holiday home accommodation in Morocco.

Marrakech is a city laden with culture, history and of course fascination. The best time to visit Marrakech is from September to May when the summer heat is not as intense. The place to see in Marrakech is the Djemma el Fna which is the large square in the centre of the city. Souqs are markets which sell almost anything and everything right from chicken to carpets and crafts.

Here you can bargain and get the best deal. Marrakech also has Majorelle Gardens and the Museum of Islamic Arts. The garden has various types of flowers and plants. The museum is a typical example of Moroccan culture with its pots and other artistry. Some holiday makers stay in self catering holiday apartments in this part of Morocco. They use the holiday apartments as a base to explore the local area and to get a true feel of the local culture of Morocco.

Fes is the typical old town in Morocco; it is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can feel the vibes of the old spiritual culture behind the high walls and in the narrow streets of Fes. There is a main gate called Bab Bou Jeloud with two main alleys - Talaa Kebira and Talaa Seghir. Wedged in middle of Fes among the houses and shops is the Kairaouine Mosque. Fes is also known for its Tanneries which manufacture leather products like slippers.

Essaouira is another popular tourist destination in Morocco. Many holiday makers come here for the slower pace of life and like the calm and the cleanliness that the city offers. Essaouira also has a beach and a port and some holiday makers rent holiday villas with swimming pools in this part of Morocco.

Merzouga is well known for its sand dunes. The dunes are called Ergi Chebbi and the deserts of Merzouga provide tourists an opportunity to trek through the dessert on camels. The deserts are home to many reptiles and mammals and birds stop at Merzouga on their migration during spring time to have a drink at the lake that forms in the desert.

You should not miss a trek to Jbel Toubkal which is the highest mountain peak in Morocco. The trek is open throughout the year and mules can help carry luggage all the way to the summit. There is no permission or fees required to go to the summit. Jbel Toubkal is about 47 kilometres by road from Marrakech you can reach it by car or taxi.

Morocco is a destination liked by many because of the variety it offers. You can enjoy the markets, walk through the streets, trek to the summit or just take a camel ride on the sand dunes. Morocco is becoming more and more popular with holiday makers renting holiday villas with swimming pools and self catering holiday apartments as holiday accommodation.
