Cleaning rubber work boots has become an important concept in many industries. Yes, having the best in working apparel is grand, and having that footwear lasts longer is even better, but there are health reasons why knowing how to clean the footwear you work in is so important. For instance, many biohazards can be faced in and around livestock areas. Knowing how to properly clean your footwear can insure that you will be getting more safety and health measures every step you take.

USDA personnel are responsible for ensuring that a reasonable level of this bio security is evident when investigating farms, ranches, or other facilities such as a slaughterhouse. These stringent regulations are put into place to protect everyone ranging from people to the animals. Even before entering such a facility, cleaning the hands with an antibacterial soap will help reduce the transmission of disease agents or pathogens from person to person or person to animal.

Cleaning those rubber work boots must be completed with disinfectant diluted in water, and the disinfectant must be EPA approved. The cleaning agent is important because there are so many options on the market today. Having the right cleaning agent is not necessarily going to be expensive, but the cleaning agent is definitely not going to be the cheapest either. Here, effectiveness is most important not the cost of said effectiveness.

Getting a list of EPA approved disinfectants is easy. You can look online, and you will find many lists with such agents easily listed for you. There is always reading the label of the disinfectant you are interested in. Of course, you can also contact the appropriate government agency to get a regulatory list mailed or sent to you for future use.

There are many types of brushes on the market. There are hair brushes for both animal and human; there are metal brushes, soft brushes, and brushes in between; and then there are the brushes you need for insuring you get the most out of your footwear. When cleaning those rubber work boots, you should have an appropriate working brush for your needs. This brush will be used to scrub the bottom and the sides of the footwear to insure no debris or grime is on the outside.

Once the large debris is removed, clean your footwear with a cleaned brush and the approved EPA disinfectant. This should be done after each facility you visit or at pre designated intervals during the day. For instance, if you have an occupation or career in a slaughterhouse, insure this is a step taken after each slaughter.

The remaining EPA disinfectant as well as the used agent should be disposed of properly and not just discarded on the ground. This will insure the cleaning agent is not going to seep into ground water of humans or animals.

Taking bio security measures has become a necessity with many industries. Knowing how to effectively and appropriately clean those rubber work boots will insure a safer and healthier life for everyone involved both human and animal. Taking these few steps can make the difference between life and death.
