Shampoos are a general product for hair care. It helps in the removal of dirt, oils, dandruff, skin particles and environmental pollutants along with other contaminants that keeps on accumulating in hair gradually. All these unwanted contaminants are removed by a shampoo so as to make hair manageable and lustrous that further aids in their styling.

Shampoos that are labeled to be SLS free are labeled to be a little mild as they contain less harsh chemicals and are normally gentle on hair. This is an alternative to baby shampoos. Similarly, there are also special hair growth shampoos and hair loss shampoos to treat the problems of hair growth and hair loss respectively and also products that are specifically for care of long hair known as long hair shampoo. Dry shampoos are quite uncommon but still accessible in the market. These are the powdered shampoos that have been formulated such that they do not need water to work.
Apart from these hair shampoos, there are also shampoos to maintain a gentle and smooth skin that is free from all dirt. These can also be selected according to your skin type, like there are shampoos for dry skin and shampoos for oily skin that can be selected from depending upon the texture of your skin.
Last but not least, animal shampoos that are quite commonly found to treat the fur and scalp of animals. There are dog shampoos and also for that of cats. Animals have fewer layers of cell as compared to the skin of humans, and therefore there are shampoos that are specifically formulated for them. Therefore, shampoos for humans should not be used for animals, no matter how mild it might be.
